Tsulavaquake by Slippery-Jack Tsulavaquake by Slippery-Jack
My submission for the Screeners 2012 Epic Movie Poster contest. Had a lot less time to work on it than I wouldíve liked, but Iím happy with the overall result. I was going for the 70ís disaster movie vibe the brief clearly suggested, so went for the bombastic visual and over-explanatory tagline which seemed to be the norm. I wanted to include another common feature, the strip of small portrait images showing off the all-star cast, but ran out of time.

All imagery was hand drawn, scanned in, and painted in Photoshop.

Hey, I thought that maybe this coincidence could be as funny and enjoyable to you as it was to me.
The thing is, I made this game on college back in 2008, and it pretty much IS the game to this movie =D
Give it a try if you(or anyone reading this) have the chance: [link]

This game is not my best work, so it's quite hard at times.
Gotta keep running! =D Thanks for checking it!

First of all, congrats!!! Beautifully planned and executed, and I totally agree with the comment from the Daily Deviation, you totally captured the "disaster movie" feel with it! The colour work is just gorgeous! Also, I love that you incorporated the title into the drawing, and I think that compostion-wise it works great this way (without the strip of small portraits of the actors that you didn't have the time to draw)-- totally deserved of Best Poster!!!

And so much drama! It's a spine tingling, edge of your seat thrill ride of a lifetime! Though one has to wonder, what would the chances of a valcano erupting as well as a tsunami and earthquake happening at the same time? Sounds like something out of that movie 2012 if you think about it.

Well they could all be triggered by a single geological event so there is a small chance.

This reminds me of the "mash two dangerous critters together" horror movies (Dino-Croc, Sharktopus, etc.), except with natural disasters instead of critters. A lot less violation of the laws of nature that way. XD

ITS OKAY
the tsunami will get rid of the lava
and the earthquake should go away in a matter of days

I love how this is supposed to be terrifying yet it looks funny in a weird way. 70's horror was just... amusingly lame, and you captured that really well.

Fun piece.

Where are the zombies? I'm no fan of the shambling undead, mind you, but throw in a few zombies and maybe an offshore asteroid or cometary impact (resulting in global climate change and mass extinction,, perhaps?), and you'd have every major disaster film in the last ten years covered. XD

Haha, excellent. Although its entirely conceivable that those three things would be happening at the same time in the same place, and a real B-movie really wouldn't need that sort of credibility.
